Hurricane Awareness

Season ends this Wednesday. Some news about this season. First season since 2014 not to have a named storm during the off season. First time since 1997 that a tropical cyclone didn't form in the month of August. I will do a summary of this quiet hurricane season except for Florida this Wednesday.

Today is the last day of a very strange hurricane season. This hurricane season was all about Florida. Florida had 3 landfalls this season. T.S Alex Hurricane Ian and hurricane Nicole. Alex was 70 mph at landfall. Ian was a cat 4. Nicole was a cat 1 and was the latest hurricane to make landfall in Florida. Other than Florida there were a few other landfalls in the United States but not really worth noting at all. I will do another update at 7pm tonight and that will be the last issuance until June 1st. If a storm forms before June 1st I will come in.

Climate change 8-)

Hurricane Ian first made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Cayo Costa, Florida on Sept. 28.

With max sustained winds of 150 mph, Hurricane Ian tied for the fifth strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in the U.S.

Hurricane Ian produced catastrophic storm surge and flooding along the southwest coast of Florida.

We participated in the discussions and saw it all on TV and in the news

I won't be fishing anytime soon. And the hurricane season is over so I won't be posting that much.

1669885514018.webpU will miss some of the current spectacular angling opportunities South Shore beaches have to offer.( U boat guys can pick your days too). This self confident 14 year old is one of my Long Beach " Grandsons." He & the other grandsons have heard my tales a thousand times already how George, ( RFA) and the like fought to get Cuomo to sign the commercial Bunker purse seining moratorium. And voila so easy these days, even kids are C & R'ing Roccus up the wazoo. All of my Long Beach grandsons tip their hats to u George and say big & many thanks. They are the future of our common pasttime.
