the exhust system was rigged - VW made it so the emissions control shut off under normal operating conditions & turned back on when the car's emissions were being checked during inspections - I had a 2011 & a 2012 fuel injected turbo diesels - averaged around 50 mpg combination of local & highway - 60 to 65 straight hightway - used to make across the Georgia border into Florida from here on 3/4's of a tank - loved that car - 6 speeds both of them - great performance too - sucker could move - Government made us give them up

How the rule would work

If an assessment finds that it is feasible to install pollution controls, they would have to be added within six months. Paul Gianone, owner of a pizza restaurant in Brooklyn that installed the technology in 2019, told the Post that it cost $20,000. (A restaurant could instead switch to an electric or gas oven, but commercial models may also cost more than $10,000.)

If the assessment finds a reduction of 75% is impossible, the professional assessor either finds a way to reduce emissions by 25%, or explains to the city why no emissions controls can be installed.

Although many stories presented the rule as already being in effect, it has not been finalized, and some local politicians are calling for revisions or subsidies to ease the financial burden on restaurants.
