Bastards lied!!!!
The advertised price did not include the down payment. I asked them that on the phone before I ever looked at the truck.
I walked out?
I thought you might even have a "decent" truck buying experience.

Truly sucks, hate having to buy vehicles. I cringe every time.

And usually walk the first time. Wouldn't it just be easier to sell a vehicle at a fair price, and be honest during the process?

So as I think, I was in this situation buying a car for my son about 3 years ago. It was a bit of a "rush" buy but found a vehicle, pretty much stripped down beyond what you normally see. When I looked at the new price vs. a 3 year old vehicle with 30K or more miles, the delta was really small.

I took my son and told him to pay attention during the whole process. Worked the "deal" lol, and asked:

Have you included all incentives and holdbacks? Answer was a resounding YES. I asked again, are you sure?? YES. Worked out the tentative payment etc. Documented sticker, blah blah blah, page out of their book etc.

I go to pick up the vehicle and said to my son, pay attention..................

We are greeted at the door, nervous talk on their side, we sit and wait in a room for the papers. And wait. And wait. They come in, 2 of them, odd, I thought just the finance guy. Start looking at docs, looks ok so far. Pull out the "envelope" every document and start comparing notes, etc.

What did I find? Sticker did not match the sales document. Sale doc gross was $750 HIGHER, but yet net price the same, payment the same. Hmmm.

Now the color drains from their faces.

I simply ask - Have you included all incentives and holdbacks? Answer was a resounding YES. I asked again, are you sure?? YES. (right from my notes)

Well, new documents followed. Their was ANOTHER holdback that should have went my way. Nope, hidden in the gross, then as a subtraction later in the transaction, so net stayed the same.

My son and I had a wonderful conversation later that night at home, AND he now learned how to buy a car.

sorry to hear you had a lousy experience Mike.............................

Were you looking to buy new or a 2023 leftover? They'l be desparate to unload them in another month or so.

My car buying story was with WP Honda. I intentionally financed exactly $10,000 at a fixed rate so I knew exactly what my monthly payment would be - even had the 36 month amortization table for the loan with me.

Finance manager gets on the computer, and gives me a monthly payment $30 more per month than the schedule in my hand. I'm like NO, walked around his desk just in time to see him delete a $1,000 charge added to my financing.
