The anti gunners wrote one article after another last week rejoicing they won a major victory against gun owners. Gun owners knew the stories were lies. Instead it was a major win for NY gun owners.
Now you don't have to turn over your social media when you apply for a concealed carry permit. That alone was a major reason why most gun owners didn't apply for a concealed Carry License . Win for Gun Owners in NY.
Now you can go into stores , stay in a hotel, eat in restaurants , other private property open the public and not be arrested for bringing a gun onto private property. Previously you could only go on private property with a gun if the owner had a sign that guns were allowed. Win for NY gun owners.
Re: taking guns into sensitive areas, they already had restrictions on where you could carry a gun, Scotus will step in and stop the anti gunners if they go overboard with restrictions.
Amazing how they spun that news and made it seem like it was a major win for the anti gunners.
 
Wow, your glass is half full. You can not enter any firm where liquor is served. Or for that matter, the five boroughs. In Nassau you still have to pay for your own drug test. and attend a cc class that is not cheap. I am so happy that they won't know I belong to nyanglers or facebook. Yay.

I'm suspicious they stamped a date on Concealed Carry applications at Nassau Police headquarters.Why stamp a date ?
There's something to that ?
No doubt they ordered all the issuing authorities to pause issuing new concealed carry permits so NY can pass another law to get around the appeals court ruling last week.
Re: Social Media, they wouldn't issue permits to people who liked Trump too much. They wanted to see who you supported politically ,don't you think they'd look at your politics if you applied for a permit in NYC ? They sure would. they'd sit there looking at your history, and if they didn't like the stuff you were interested in they were in a position to deny you a carry permit. No doubt they'll interrogate people at their gun interview and find ways to deny you.
 
I am not Biden fan by all means and do not support him or his half ass side kicks, I am a huge outdoorsmen enjoy my hunting, just as much as fishing. With that being said I Have my carry permit. and I did it when they were checking social media accounts. Anyway anytime something in our favor is a win win.

What was the application process like ? how much was the Concealed Carry Safety course ? Did they interview you ? How long did it take to get the Permit ?

I did national security background investigations for Uncle from 1984 through 2011 and was in every wonderful "shitty" housing project in all five boroughs as well as Hempstead and Roosevelt knocking on doors. Alone and prohibited from being armed by my job despite my military background and title of Special Agent. Several close calls and funny stories but never assaulted. Lack of a partner who has your six is more important than having multiple pistols anyway. I haven't worked a day since and with the cost of cc in Nassau, which still requires drug tests and a cc course, simply not worth it to protect myself on the dangerous streets and boat channels of Matzohpizza. Since 2011 I have made at least yearly visits to the Bronx Zoo and once to the USS Intrepid. Carry prohibited of course in the "shitty" since I am not Robert DeNiro or The Donald. I have my target and hunting pistol license and would not hesitate to "defend" the "homestead" with deadly force, 9mm being the least powerful and readily accessible. On Lawnguyland carry is prohibited where alcohol is served, in all parks and government buildings and whereever posted. Concealed is concealed so who is going to know ? Everyone that sees it and one better have a hell of a good reason for that !
 
As a LEO, it's amazing how many places in the city you can and can't carry. Some places only allow off duty NYPD to carry, whereas others allow all off duty to carry. There used to be a chart floating around on the internet. I can't find it at this moment.

I took my course when it first came out, I Believe it was one of the first places giving. Myself along with a bunch of co- workers all went, we were all sportsmen holders already it was a two day class of 16 hours and at the time I believe $ 420 at the time however that I am sure has changed. We all were called relatively fast within a few days of each other when arriving you turn in your sportsman permit answer there question fill out social media paper No longer required and we went on our way with our carry permits. We all went to same place Guardian Security training for our class Grand Blvd Deer park NY. Great place and it was definitely a good learning experience.
 
I wonder if they will add to the curriculum as to how to avoid leaving the gun behind in a public toilet as the off-duty SCPD cop did the other day out east in a junior-senior high school? Since he was off duty I am guessing that he did not have his issued pistol and holster and probably took the gun out of some such 'pancake' holster to avoid dumping it in the shitter. Fortunately a janitor found it and not a middle schooler.

With all due respect to LEOs,... cops are some of the worst gun handlers you will ever see.

I always shoot my Pistol at 25 yards , everybody else shoots point blank. Too bad no black powder anymore at the Nassau range. I wish Nassau County would expand that range with 50 -100 yard shooting. Plenty of room there to expand.
 
That would be nice. Shooting my AR there is sort of silly, even when its all the way back at 29 yards. I do shoot some .22 rifles and an M1 Carbine there, but yes, otherwise its really just a pistol range. I really need to get back to some shooting and try my shoulder again with my bows. Going after Bambi with shotgun on a nuisance permit this Saturday, then not again until January. I sight the thing in with one of those laser cartridges. 35 nuisance hunters in 2022, took a total of 6 deer, so some nuisance permits (and this one requires a minimum of 40 hours a year to stay on the list) are definitely not easy for a harvest.
