Finally, the "Perfect" Tide Clock...

Couldn't resist, got a Plum Island light for the desk, and realized it's also Old Field Point too. CG used that puppy all over!

At it's base is my piece of graphite from the world's first nuclear reactor,, the one under the Stagg Field stands at the University of Chicago!!

Reminds me of my days fishing in Old Field from the surf - that whole stretch, Flax Pond, Conscience Bay.

Most were husky bass, fun on the lighter tackle, but some of the 30's in the "front" on eels in the summer was always a pleasant surprise!

If you want to keep it local, they do have the pattern that embraces Block North, Plum Island, RIP, Sheffield Island & Morgan Point, along with Montauk & Fire Island...
You must have guessed I have already visited the website!

I did see the Montauk pattern but somehow missed Plum Island, NY. I saw Plum Island in Boston Harbor. If they have Plum I., NY I would definitely go that way. Although I love Montauk, Plum I. and the Gut is my backyard!!

Duh!!! Of course, that's the Plum Island and also Old Field Point Lighthouse. For some reason I kept visualizing the Orient Coffee Pot.

Now I know it's time to close the bar!

I checked out the website and Im thinking of getting 1 for the house
Unfortunately Im partial to this one and its not available

I agree, Mitch, that the Coffee Pot is iconic for the North Fork crowd. Perhaps its design is just a little too plain for the manufacturer.
We shall see in about 3 weeks if my wife got the hint!:sneaky:
On the website there a tab to suggest new lights Custom Design Requests

If a few of us request the "Coffee Pot" it may happen. I'll add my 2¢ with the owner for you gentlemen. It shouldn't be too hard for them since there are a couple "coffee pots" already there, Plymouth, MA, and North Kingston, RI.

You have to remember that my Gut fishing was in the days prior to GPS, so we used ranges to start our drifts, and the Plum Island Light was a key part in all my favorite ranges; never did well by the Coffee Pot.

I find myself mentally positioning myself looking at my Plum Island Light as I enter the room it's in. Old habits die hard...

It doesn't matter which lighthouse you choose as long as you program your area, correct?
Absolutely, I've got my Plum Island light set on Plum Gut.

You don't "program" anything, just do a quick setup. It will automatically want to set the most local station, but you can go into advanced settings, select your state and a list of all the tide stations drop down so you pick your favorite...

My birthday is only 3 weeks away, so I doubt if we can generate enough enthusiasm for the NexTide folks to add a "Coffee Pot" light to their collection in that time frame; but I will make the recommendation just the same.

Regarding your experiences by the "Coffee Pot" for Bass, while there are many other drift lines I prefer on most days. the old Pot has her moments, especially on an ebb tide. I also used to do pretty well chunking there. While it is a "no-go" for me, a few of the charter guys I know who still drag wire seem to score petty regularly in that area too.

Now for tonight's "Pro Tip" for all the Bass enthusiast who work the Gut. When the tidal flow starts to slow down, especially on a flood tide, I typically shift my drift lines closer to the Plum I. Light. The geographical layout of Plum Island and the bottom contour in this location allows that particular line to hold on to the moving water a good 30 minutes of more later than other locations in the vicinity. ;)

"It's almost low, time to head for the beach!!" never have I ever said...

Yeah right, want to buy a bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan???

Well, after mentioning how cool these were to my wife and the fact she loves nautical themed decor, I was given Fire Island light for my Birthday 👍
We have visited and climbed that lighthouse many times so its a special place
I set it up and programmed it for Ponguogue point which is basically the bridge. Not sure I fully understand it yet so maybe I’ll have to set up a conference call with Mr Roccus for a crash course 😎😎😎

Sure, want to do a Zoom? Anyone else in??
Sounds good
I’ll follow back with you when I can make time for that
In the meantime, once the initial set up is completed how do you get back in to it to adjust some of the settings or choose a different tide station?
Do I have to unplug it to restart the set up menu?

First let me say that Roccus is just about as good with the Tide Clock "pitch" as he is at working his top water Bass lures!:ROFLMAO:
I too received one for my birthday last month and I must say it is one cool device. Not looking to step on his toes, it is true that when you want to make modifications to the device you have to unplug it and plug it in again to get your Wi-Fi device to bring up the adjustment screens. Once you make the first adjustment it is actually quite simple.

Mine already has a prominent spot on my desk! And yes, Roccus it is the Montauk Lighthouse, not Plum Island. I still have the tide cycles programmed to Plum Gut. However, I am also thinking about the fact that you have admitted to buying a second one yourself. Hmmm; how far off is Fathers' Day?;)

We are already talking about a second one here as well 😎
Thank you for the insight!
Looks like I will be reaching out to you for the information from Eldridge and how to adjust the program to compensate for that!

Glad that @Chinacat and @captmike28 were well-treated for their birthdays. Mike can always step on my toes with excellent instructions like that.

I wish there was an On/Off function, being able to have it turn off when in bed, allowing for a bedroom installation and have asked the MFG about that. He's trying to figure that one out, but for now, I have the Power Puck plugged into a programmable timer, works like a champ.

One thing I discovered that you can change the direction of the beacon rotation. That was a "discussion point" with The Admiralty. Seems we have different points of reference, LOL

On Memorial Day, you may see a "Special Feature". If not then, for sure on July 4....

Funny but I have a similar challenge with the ability to turn the lights off. My office is also our spare bedroom, and some family members need total darkness to sack out. I didn't know a timer would work as I thought you might lose connectivity with the power off. Upon reflection I guess the timer switch does allow a small amount of power to reach the device even in the "off mode", correct?

Another cool feature coming later this year? Any chance it will tell us what the correct lure is to use on the "Next Tide"???:D

Doesn't need power all the time, as all the programming is retained so don't worry about putting on a timer.
