I used to love driving stick. But with today's traffic, etc., no way!

Learn to float shift, and leave a fair amount of following distance to absorb the rubber-banding. The Jetta has over a quarter million miles on it and still has the original clutch. I really only use it about 25% of the time I'm changing gears.
