back from Dinner with Capt13 - gonna throw on my jammies & watch some TV...........

8-)
I don't actually have jammies per say.......

Heading out to Garden City over to the FAA facility, looking to insulate some 30” generate exhaust pipes. This should be a nice walk through. ?

Playing around with VDOT, the Town Public Works gang, Town Manager & a Paving Company. Had contracted the Pavers to fill & asphalt in the trench we cut across the street at the Brit's building to connect to the Town water.

Idiots who installed the two valves placed them below street level . I didn't supervise them nor hire them.

They did put the type in that had built in risers in them. Meaning they could be raised if necessary to meet the correct level. They are 3 inches below where they should be. The fill that went into the trench 5 months ago is now so compacted they are unable to be raised. They used a pick ax to clear the fill away from them - tied straps to the bucket of a bobcat & tried to raise them that way. The straps snapped!!!!

So now the road is closed. This of course drew some attention & VDOT showed up. Along with the aforementioned other players.

Well - back to the dig site.

good times

looked out by back door because I smelled smoke - a lot of smoke - then saw flames shooting up higher then the trees - then heard & saw 4 fire departments racing down my block...................

Hose fire on the block behind me!

When I say block - our blocks here are easily more than a football field in length. So I was easily over 300 yards away with my line of sight blocked by trees Began to walk over there & got a glimpse of the roof of the house through the treetops - the flames that I saw where shooting out of the roof of the house.

NIce old 1800's Victorian.

What I got from one of the 1st Responders:
Older guy, had a cold, was blowing his nose & dropping the tissues into a wastebasket.
There was a candle burning by the wastebasket.
Took his dog for a walk.
Came back in - the candle had melted all the way down & somehow ended up in the wastebasket.
When he came in the basket was on fire, the couch & curtains.

By the time the fire departments arrived the entire second floor & attic were engulfed.

Sad.
