Post your 2019-2024 Fluke Pix & Trip Reports Here!

Just got caught up with this thread - 2024 was definitely a weird fluke season in NJ, made plenty of trips to NY and some of the SS bays hit the lottery this year...everywhere else, not so much. The Captree/Moriches for hire fleets are happy, they pushed for the 19.5" increase in exchange for the longer season and it paid off bigly - literally - from May through October.

Here's a recap of my (mostly) shorebound season -

And just like that, POOF! $400 magically disappears.

I haven’t tried yet. Busy with house and yard work, now that I have the old girl spiffed and floating. We’ll give it a good shot on the coming Holiday weekend.

So far the reports local to me sound truly awful - maybe the coming week will feature some warmer temps to get them motivated. Or me motivated to go looking. Either/or, LOL!
Bay is slow on the eastern front.

Just read that Pres. Trump set aside the stop work order on the wind farm outside JI. Work to recommence after some B.S. environmental impact studies are completed. Probably re-starting construction sometime late in '26. Thanks, Mr. President. 🤬

Another nail in the coffin. Never a clear head. Never.

Not good news!

Alot can happen between now and then!

I was wrong about the timing. And the reason for the stop order order as well. Excerpt:

"Equinor said it would make an updated economic assessment in the second quarter, while seeking to move forward with offshore installation this year and reach commercial operation by 2027."

Question is, are you still thinking about selling your boat? 🤔

Every ground fishery setback pushes me a little further in that direction. Its both incremental as well as cumulative. We’ll see how it all goes this Season.

Its a double edge sword!

When I got rid of my last boat, I had plenty of friends to fish with. While you've relieved yourself of the work it takes to maintain a boat, you also lose the independence it gives you.

Fishing with a friend who is an inferior captain or just does things differently than you do can be very frustrating. Your years of experience now take a backseat to not insulting your friend for the sake of catching a fish........

Stuck up ?? Ewwwwww.

Not the best conditions. Wind 20-25 steady up to 30. Cold. Cold. Water dirty.

And Sammy still put a bay fluke in the boat!

Oh, she loves her new fishing boots too!

Nah.......maybe the word inferior was inappropriate. I'm talking about the guy who fishes once a week, goes with the fleet and breaks out the beers by 10am. That's not my style!
I would do double checks the night before, game plan with plan b and c, etc, etc.........
Point is it takes, not running your own boat takes some getting used to.

Well, it was a S-ton of work, both mechanical and cosmetic. But she came out looking even better than recent Springs, because I polished before I waxed. I don't really like doing that on my 38-yr old gelcoat - there's only so much left on her, but the results came out excellent. Love me my Collinite products. Lifetime user and always recommend Collinite to my friends. So, she' ready to go, once Chris/HippyChic sets a date - probably next week. No real hurry, I hear the ocean water is pristine, but still pretty cold.
