Brooklyn, whiting and heated rails......1981

Ah, whiting. What I wouldn't give to be young again back in Brooklyn and pulling up whiting 4 and 5 at a time from the Steeplechase pier in CI. Man it was cold, night time fishing under a light which is where the fish were. Half an hour in the cold and snow was about all anyone could take. But you could fill a bucket with whiting in that time. Now people ask, what's a whiting. Thanks OB for reminding me what once was.

Ironic how even back then the gradual decline of our fisheries was noticeable.

As the author stated, whiting in winter started the year, then flounder, etc, etc.

I wonder what we'll be fishing for in 10 years. Hopefully we'll all make it there to find out!
