Sorry for the late report. I went fishing on Saturday at magnolia pier and it was an interesting day to say the least. I have been sick with covid so I saw a nice day to get out and took advantage of the nice weather after being stuck in the house for several days recovering. I didn't check the moon cycles and we were 3 days off the moon and the tide was screaming. I arrived there at 815 and got crabs for blackfish and no hits nothing not a touch so in the bucket he gave me there were live sand eels and peanut bunker. In addition to the green crabs all this for 8 dollars not a bad deal. I see people catching fluke so I switch hooks and went for fluke. I get a hit and omg what a fight I thought I had a blue and I get it to the surface was a doormat fluke. 5 or 6 pounds my biggest this year I keep it in the water take a look at it and I tried to swing it in because the season is over and it came off the hook. That was all I caught on Saturday I did have hits but couldn't set the hook. There was another keeper fluke caught it was 20 inches safely released and several shorts as well. Other anglers were trying for tog there as well and same thing not a touch. So a final total of 2 keeper fluke both released and about 10 shorts. All fish released. My next trip is this Saturday on the Laura Lee for tog. I will going forward be going to magnolia during moon tides for stripers and blues on the incoming tide. And also to magnolia if it's windy and rough conditions. Will be fishing on the Laura Lee and the captain Lou on nice days rest of the year. Tight lines.
