Enjoying a well-deserved first cup. Came down from my office to get a coffee and I find the sunroom 10F colder than the thermostat was set for. System is running, but no hot air. WTF??

I hear the HVAC fan running in the basement, maybe the damper for that room is screwed up? Down to the basement, no that damper is fine, as are all the other ones. WTF??

Hot water pipes are hot to the fan's heat exchanger, boiler working fine, WTF??

Figured it was the filter so I shut down the system and pulled out the old one which was only a few weeks old. Hmmm, it's a bit dirty, but not horrible, WTF???

I know the fan system is very sensitive to filters. In the summer I have to use very porous filters, but back in November the tech said a medium gauge filter should be OK in the winter and I was using that. Screw it, I'll throw in a summer filter.

Fire up the system, VOILA!!, but still WTF??? Why? I'm not sure if it was the filter changer or did the power shutdown of the fan system, which has a microprocessor in it, cure the problem, the old computer turn it off and turn it back on cure????

Next time, shutdown and restart first!!
