Supervisor Daniel J. Panico has declared a State of Emergency (PDF) for the Town of Brookhaven due to significant snowfall and blizzard conditions impacting the area.

Travel Restrictions​

All vehicle traffic is prohibited after 12:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, except for essential emergency vehicles and personnel.

No parking is permitted on Town roadways during the storm.

These measures are necessary to protect public safety and allow emergency and snow removal operations to proceed safely.

If I didn't have so many responsibilities regarding snow removal it wouldn't bother me. When I was younger and had more help and/or less property to clear it was all cool. Hopefully by this time next year I'll have more ducks in alignment and it won't be three days of digging and fighting with snowblowers. Then maybe @Chinacat and I can break out the X-country boards and make a beer run together. For now, I'll get through it, but there certainly won't be any time for fun. At least I have snowblowers.

And I'd still rather stick needles in my eyes than move to Florida.
