As a past avid skier my philosophy is keep the snow on the mountains except for a 1/2 inch on Christmas Eve.

The keys baffle me. I mean, most of them are in a sheet metal panel, so you can just jump the contacts from underneath. It's certainly not theft protection.

It's nice to be able to shut the machine off from the dashboard, but it also sucks trying to start it and forgetting to turn it back on. I think a simple on off switch would make a bit more sense to me than a loseable key.

The snow has finally melted off the screen. This is our RI driveway, that large bush has a 5 foot retaining wall running to the right next to it.

The poor REO is in rough shape. The transmission is on its last legs, and the muffler problem persists. I finally decided to order the 3/4" pipe tap. Home Depot had it for about $19.00 which was way better than the industrial supply prices of $40-$50 and much higher for also Chinesium products. But I don't know that chasing the threads is going to solve the issue.

I got enough cleared to avoid the snow police.

Then I went back home and fired up the baby Ariens to go down the block and dig out the widow lady's garage because she needs things from there, and she's got no help while her daughters are away at school.

And one more time, under the heading of No Good Deed Goes Unpunished, the Ariens shucked a tire chain and promptly ingested it. Now it's locked up tighter than a duck's @$$.

I tried hammering on the auger and leaning on it with a crowbar. That clam ain't opening.

So now I have to look into how to disassemble and auger and possibly a rotor. I'd say this blows, but this thing ain't going to be blowing anything for a while.

Still got one house to clear tomorrow. I wonder what fresh misery awaits me there.

Negative. I'm probably going to have take the augers apart. It's jammed in there like it's welded.

Hopefully a last resort. It's all in there pretty deep and wound around everything. One link is jammed between the second stage rotor and the housing so cutting it really isn't an option. Another end is caught between an auger tip and the driveshaft. I suspect that's putting tension on the whole thing.

I'll see if taking a shear pin out allows the auger to turn and at least unlock that end of it. If I can get the tension off it maybe it will unwind.

I would try bolt cutters and cut away at the chair few cut links should ease tension

Unfortunately, I don't have bolt cutters in my back pocket right now.

Tomorrow is another day, and I don't need the Ariens immediately. I'll look at it again after I deal with the last place. Hopefully that doesn't turn into snowblower hell also.
