Got it done in time, but got a nice little cooldown while blowing off the driveway. Rain felt great

Our street is supposed to be having a block party today. Looks like they're trying to go ahead with it, although everyone scrambled indoors when the lightning started.

We already applied the rain date of tomorrow because we don't have little kids , which is what the party is really for. We can have our, and Avenger Jr's friends over any time without the hassle of the closed street.

Meanwhile, I'm looking at a very big and very wet inflatable slide in the street, which I expect will function opposite of a water slide. It looks like about 10:00 pm outside.

That's unfortunate, but at least they have an option. I know brides don't think that way, but coping with adversity is good practice for a successful marriage.

I'm wondering what's up next door. They've got a tent city going on that's WAY over the top for a block party. Looks more like a reception.

Aw fwuck. The DJ booth set up right across the street and the dip$#it can't understand which direction the block runs. So the speakers are pointing right at my house.

Next year I'm going to insist they set up in front of our house. That way the other side of the block gets the full effect, and I turn the power off when it gets late.

Apparently someone had an epiphany, or a conversation with a different neighbor. Now the speakers are pointing up and down the block.

Well, that de-escalated quickly.

Heavy boomers rolled in like a squadron of B-52s and the scramble to tie things down is on.

The DJ rolled a car in and they're loading it as fast as they can. I guess the party's over.
