At those kind of prices, these rods are a steal. They really need to be seen and flexed in person, because based on the ones I've looked at, some of the models are VERY parabolic (like a true Japanese-style slow pitch rod), and that might not appeal to everyone's taste.
Super solid values at those prices though. I have to think that Centaur is blowing them out to clear dealer inventory for forthcoming new models.
Now if you want REAL steal, get ahold of Dan Harley @ Palmarius rods and sweet talk him into selling you one of his killer Wakizashi slow pitch rods for the $200 price he was selling them at the Jersey show. Tell him you had to miss the show and would like to pick one up at that price. He's a really nice guy and I'm sure he'd work with you. These rods were originally $599., so they are an incredible bargain. He told me that he's selling them off, as they never really took off because of the 5'6" length - which I have found to be perfect for use on my boat.
I've been using my Waka #2 all season offshore with weights to 5oz, and holy moley what a nice rod! For $200 you get a SOLID three-graphite blank, a full set of Fuji titanium SIC guides (those are worth more than the $200 ask alone), and the latest Fuji pressed carbon reel seat. Most sensitive rod I've ever used, even more so than his regular P-Line slow pitchers, of which I have two, (of course).
One slight and I mean slight issue - the reel seat is a bit too large for a small lo-pro baitcaster. I made a shim out of a Cool Whip tub's cover and the reel is now tight in the seat. Not a big deal, but I thought it proper to point this out.
Still, just an incredible rod at the blow-out price.
