My Kind of Guy - Too funny!

But if he was flying an Obama flag he'd be a bastion of patriotism and the first amendment, right?

we will never know..because that post would not be allowed or lasted too long.

Being a condo owner I can tell you that there are just some people who have no business with that style of living. They don't like rules of any kind and do not like anyone telling them what they can or cannot do. I deal with them all the time and my advice is the same...."you are right , go get yourself ten acres somewhere else and take your crazy ass and live there and run around naked howling at the moon" good luck!

While I was addressing the 'cat's observation it really applies to the complainer at the complex. I'd bet if the flag had been something they agreed with they wouldn't have given it a thought. Either way, I wonder who has the time to be concerned about what flag their neighbor is flying. I guess if it was a genitalia flag there might be a limit, but otherwise I've got better things to do.

But I agree that if you sign on to the HOA you're stuck with it. My in-laws lived in a development that was totally regulated right down to what kind of shrub you had to have in your front yard, and where. It was the most soul-sucking place I've ever seen. You literally could not tell what street you were on without looking at the signs. It was utterly devoid of any kind of character whatsoever. I'd liken it to the projects, where every building and apartment is identical, or, better yet, a storage facility. While I can't imagine why anybody would want to live like that, it appeared that there were some people that were quite thrilled to be able to exert that kind of control over something that belonged to someone else. I'm guessing people who were never in charge of anything bigger than a toaster in their life so this was their big chance, or just mentally defective control freaks. One visit was enough for me to decide I'd never live in a place like that.

YES it is surely not for those who cannot follow rules or want to do as they please...and some are better than others. If you like structure and uniformity and understand the good of the many out weighs the good of the few, then you will like it. Most do have rules about what you can display outdoors.....and it's quite understandable. Ever go past some jack wagons property covered with 25 campaign signs??? can you say tacky and tasteless?

but I do think that what the guy did is funny....but people are laughing AT HIM....not with him

Unless you live in Montana and have to drive an hour to visit your nearest neighbor there are always some rules and conventions to follow. Most of it is just courtesy and respecting your fellow man. And naturally one expects it to be reciprocated. However, there is a huge difference between that and the kind of control that these people want to exert. Something my neighbor is doing that doesn't harm my property or disrupt my life doesn't concern me. But some people want to be the fashion police and dictate what others can do based on their personal taste. That's unacceptable in a free society, but something I could certainly see an condescending, elitist lefty doing.

Oh, and you weren't kidding. Look at all these people who showed up to laugh at him.... oh wait....
