Fished on the MMII yesterday. Made a last minute decision to go on Friday. Arrived into MTK at 6. Slight breeze. not nearly as windy as forecasted IMO. Started out with a strong bite. Foggy all day until return. I think we were fishing southside of the point to the west. Guys on the bow and stern outfished those midship. I had about 12 fluke - 0 keepers, 1sea bass and 4 or so skates. I think high hook was about 3 fish. Some nice fish pulled in the 7-9 lb rang. a short striper and some bluefish to add to the mix. had a lull at the top of the tide. poor drift made it challenging. No one rig seemed to outperform. I was fishing with standard spearing squid strip. Fish all coming on bottom hook. Montauk was fairly quiet. Not many boats out fishing. Crew said it was their best trip yet. Great day on the water, great people.
