Starting to look into putting radar on the boat.
John

FWIW, not a fan of mine, but it was on the boat when I bought it. Definitely a "nice to have" IF I ever got caught out in a pea soup fog, but I'm pretty careful about not going out in fog, nor potentially foggy conditions. 99.99% of the time when I flip it on, it's only to check if it works. I've only used it for real once in 5 years, and that was because the river was soupy, but I knew the Gulf was clear...

why don't you pick up a line trimmer or cheap mower from Walmart?

I tow this with the Mule .....

Anti radar or you just don’t go out in the fog or at night? Never owned a boat without it. Fogs a betch!

Not anti-radar at all, but since I'm retired and the boat is sitting in the back yard on a dock, I'm not locked into fishing on weekends and there isn't any "prep" time to launch a boat, get it loaded etc. I can pick my days to fish. It's not unusual for me to head out and if conditions aren't right, I just turn around and head home; there's always later in the day and/or tomorrow.

Since I live in Maine, going out after dark is NOT an option IMO; you folks can't believe the number of lobster pots there are around here. Navigating in daylight is an Olympic Lobster Pot Slalom event! Piloting a boat here is a real challenge in that you cannot take your eyes off the water for a second, lest you hang up on a lobster pot or slam into a rock ledge that has no navigational aids associated with it. There's one ledge in the entrance of a local of river with no markers that seems to have a magnetic attraction for out of state boaters. On LI, a ledge like that would have at least 1 lit buoy on it, if not 2 or more buoys.

Now I know Don will chime in to say if I put my dome on a mast with a bit of a down angle, it will pick up the pot buoys, but I still wouldn't want to risk it.

I've gone out a few times at night to see fireworks with "The Admiral" standing on the bow with the spotlight in her hand. The bass bite fine here in the middle of the day when the tides are correct so I don't feel shortchanged. However, between my dock and the Head of Tide, there are no lobster pots and a few great bass spots. I have all the approaches and rocks saved on the GPS for low water fishing so I do occasionally fish at night, but definitely stay away from the lower harbor and open Gulf once dusk has turned to dark...

Working on the work truck ?
No Mohegan Sun for me today?
But the Mrs. Is still going with her Aunt and cousin so I don’t feel too bad she was really excited to go
