Hamilton, the Musical

Watching it now only because I have Disney+ for the family. Let me preface my critique with two comments.

1. I ABHOR rap

2. I respect and admire Alexander Hamilton. He was the "Bill Gates" of the Founding Fathers.

OK, #1 means I find this "musical" absurd and unwatchable without running the closed captions just in case you want to actually understand the lyrics. The thought of waiting for months and paying big $$ to see a performance of this is totally absurd to me.

So the Reader's Digest Review: (n)(n)(n)(n)(n)(n)(n) You couldn't pay me to watch this crap.

that's kinda what I thought - no interest in seeing either

I love Broadway. When I was up in NY/LI last time (the Fall) asked my daughter if she wanted to take in a show. She suggested that. After we found out it was rap based - we both took a pass.

Now I'm fact checking because they made the insinuation that Hamilton introduced Lafayette to Washington, WRONG. After the Continental Congress in Philadelphia commissioned as a Major General and 5 days later met George Washington as Washington came to Philly to update the Congress.

Nope, Hamilton wasn't involved. Tough to sell BS to a graduate of Lafayette College...

Wife watched half of it. I watched "Rambo" and Dead Pool 2 in another room. I can understand a black cast for Steel Magnolias. After all, its fiction. But this ? I won't be needing to regain two hours of my life for it !

I was a bit harsh yesterday not to mention what I found the brightest part of the play, the songs sung, not rapped, by King George III. Lyrics were hysterical and his affectations in the performance were wonderful.

Now, here's a very subtle criticism, but his English accent is probably incorrect. It might have been more correct had he sung with a slight German accent with the same affectations .

Fellow Anglophiles would understand that...

HAMILTON

I saw the first two hours tonight...will watch the rest tomorrow...it's more a musical than RAP.....Myself and my wife enjoyed it and can see how it would be great on the stage...it helps to have some basic knowledge of the time period and the characters....the guy playing Thomas Jefferson is good......I myself played Arron Burr in a play when I was 14.....the same Burr that killed Hamilton.....

I and it seems most play goers give it two thumbs up!!

I used captions...but don't really need it
