When I was 17 I would go to American Beverage in College Point in the morning to shape up as a helper on a soda delivery truck. Those old wooden cases were heavy, I was a skinny kid & always got picked last, if at all. One morning after the trucks were gone their were 3 or 4 of us left & the boss came out & asked who knew how to operate a HI LO, looking for days pay I said I did. I thought first thing everyone would go for coffee & I could figure it out, WRONG. He had me get in to move a stack of cases with glass bottles, I proceeded to knock it over breaking most of the glass. I remember the guy chasing me down the street with a bat, needless to say I never went back.

I remember these guys coming down the block going door to door when I lived in Levittown. And then for a few years after we moved to Farmingdale.

That would probably be ages 5 through 10 years old(?).

Vaguely recall them while in Brooklyn(off Flatbush Avenue) before the move to Levittown but that may just be my imagination. We moved to "the Island" when I was around 5.
