Not what I expected...

Just got home from a full tide 6 pack out of Montauk. Really been looking forward to this trip after listening for weeks and weeks how awesome the Bass fishing has been. I did hear that those 'big' fish that were hanging around pushed east to Block Island but thats OK a bunch of slot fish would be fine with me. Trouble was it ended up being a total stinker. Well, perhaps I shouldn't be so critical, we did catch 3 fish the whole night but certainly not what I expected. Why do they call it fishing and not catching? Oh yea, I remember.

Thems the breaks for sure. One thing about stripers, the second you think you've got 'em figured out, they show you just who's the boss...

I find that hard to believe. You were either drifting (eels) or anchored up
and had a chunk line going. A flat of bunker and mackerel or a bucket of clams.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Drifting eels and live lining porgies, beautiful night but fish were uncooperative to say the least.

It's a good possibility. He was fishing in thirty foot of water. Not ten foot or fifty foot.
Obviously not on the 20 fathom curve.

i've got to say he drifted multiple depths and bottom contours. Deepest started around 60' and worked bottom to 24'. It wasn't like he didn't put in any effort to find life but they just weren't there.

Were you fishing the Southwest Ledge off of Block? That's really where the bass have been concentrating. The bassing at the Point has sucked for weeks now.
