outboard repair can be very expensive and frustrating when not fixed

You betcha! Too bad they don't refund your money when they fail! Same thing happened with my bow mount, foot-controlled trolling motor on my Tracker. The mechanic didn't have a clue how to fix the problem and suggested I buy a new one. I can only imagine the cost of installation plus...

Do fish strike lures to eat them or target lures based on forage?

I coined a word this year: strike-triggers. Good Lures have them as do live bait - though more biological in nature. Fish sense the difference between lures and a live worm or minnow. The lure must have the right action and be within a size range, where action-speaks-louder-than-words...

Do fish strike lures to eat them or target lures based on forage?

That may be, but how do you chose lures based on that? Assigning reasons/motives or emotions fish strike lures, assumes fish reason - and thereby are capable of logic or that fish get angry and are thereby emotional as seen in animals with larger and more complex brains. Beyond assigning the...

Testing and catching fish on new lures is a blast!

I usually fish lakes in Orange County, but have fished lakes in Duchess and Sullivan counties. The tidal creeks emptying into the Hudson R.: Fishkill and Wappingers, have produced different species on the tides going in and out. I've also fished West Point lakes with a permit; and targeted...

Testing and catching fish on new lures is a blast!

Stored in my basement are lures of every kind. Over the years I stopped casting most of them and being lazy, cast only a few I know I can catch the most fish and fish species. Sure, I could start casting weedless jigs with trailers for bass, but most of the local lakes I fish, there isn't a...

outboard repair can be very expensive and frustrating when not fixed

I wanted to return it but the seller wouldn't take it. I called Amazon customer service and they said keep it, and they would still give me a full refund. One more reason to live Amazon!

FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

I found out this year that I had access to VA healthcare for the first time. The means test no longer includes the spouse's income, which it did to deny healthcare. Good thing I had good health insurance via my federal job. Now my meds are sent to the house and no deductible. I also found out I...

    Welcome, senkosam

Where would I post about fishing and lures that catch fish on lakes and ponds? I always keep a photo journal on my PC with various folders: lakes fished and lures that caught fish in them, numbers caught and species lurecraft - mostly soft plastics separated in folders according to design...

outboard repair can be very expensive and frustrating when not fixed

I've had a 2.5 hp Mercury 4-stroke for 3 yrs. with no problems. This year it wouldn't start. Took it to one shop and was charged $$$ to fix it. When I went to pick it up, I was shown that it started and didn't stall at slow idle. Put it on the transom and tried starting it at home. NO GO! The...

    Welcome, senkosam

Thanks, but is NYangler mostly about saltwater fishing? I searched and found no posts about fishing for freshwater species. I've fished many large and small lakes in N.Y. and done very well. I fish for different reasons than most but won't post unless I know the information is useful. info about...

I have a VA photo ID card. Does it count? I never got it put on my driver's license. I don't shop at HD seeing as how much more expensive they are in comparison to Amazon and Walmart+. Too exclude big ticket products definitely makes it not worth shopping there.
