Good News for Veterans. Home Depot has made arrangements with the Exchanges whereby you can order online through the Exchange and get 10% off and no sales tax from Home Depot. I'm not sure if there are any restrictions on purchases but I just bought a DeWalt battery powered ratchet, 10% off HD price, no sales tax and free shipping.

Been getting 10% off at Lowes and HD for years, but are you are saying that you can order at a PX HD stuff and get the ten off AND no payment to Hochul ? Haven't gone to Mitchel Field in years, maybe I will now.

As of April of last year veterans have free entry to all New York state parks. My wife and I headed to Robert Moses to check out the Erin surf yesterday with no entry fee for us. We then played the field two Pitch N Putt with no charge for me and a small $8 senior fee for her. A great deal. Thank you govenor Hochul but you can retire now. The Homers 10% deal is good but they exclude lumber discounts.
regards Holty

It's also free parking only on weekdays, I think, if you're a senior. Just show your drivers license at the parking field toll booth

I have a VA photo ID card. Does it count? I never got it put on my driver's license.
I don't shop at HD seeing as how much more expensive they are in comparison to Amazon and Walmart+. Too exclude big ticket products definitely makes it not worth shopping there.

Va id is good. You would have to register with lowes or hd first with it. I don’t think i would buy a washing machine from amazon lol. Tough to return it at kohls.

Yes, we used to buy from Plessers in Babylon or PC Richard but cheapest prices for us lately have been HD. With Amazon Prime for many years, free S&H from Walmart if over $35., and I can not remember when I last went to the dicks at Dicks for anything. Stocked up on ammo online before Obummer and at my age won't use up what I got. Sometimes I feel bad about not shopping local. Sometimes. Mil discounts are nice. When I retired in 2011 we went to Oahu and stayed at the Hale Koa. But we were really pleased when we found mil discounts at all the major tourist attractions there, even at the Kailua Bay Outfitters when we rented a tandam and paddled out to the bird sanctuaries.

Sorry I have been out of touch. Been miserable with three nasty broken ribs. I'm sure everyone knows what damaged ribs feel like. Yes, I've only done it once. I went on the Mitchel Field Navy Exchange site and there was a link to go to the Home Depot site. I placed my order, got the usual 10% Veterans discount that we get from Lowes or HD but when checking out, there was no tax and free shipping. When I went back to the Exchange site, they mentioned that HD would be just like the Exchange and not charge tax. Thank you Home Depot.

All you need is to show the Veterans designation on your NYS drivers license.
Overboard, I'm not sure that having a veterans designation on your NYS drivers license will do it. I thought every Veteran can get that on their DL. While all Vet's get the 10% from HD and Lowes, to get the no tax and free shipping you might have to be Active, Retired or Disabled and authorized to use the Military Exchange/Commissary or be registered to use their online site. I had to show my VA Card with my designation to get into the Commissary and Exchange. To go online and use the online site, I had to be able to register as Active, Retired or Disabled.

I found out this year that I had access to VA healthcare for the first time. The means test doesn't include the spouse's income, which it did to deny healthcare.
Now my meds are sent to the house and no deductible. I also found out I can go to the exchange/commissary on base with photo ID.

Know the feeling! I came down hard, flat on my back, falling on black ice last winter. I couldn't get into a sitting position for 30 minutes. It took a month to be able to lie flat in bed to even get out of bed because of the pain. Meds were useless.
