I don't know if anyone heard the sad news. Fred Garofalo passed away last night.
He was a ambassador to the sport of fishing and conservation.
I will certainly miss his weekly broadcasts.
So I went out at 7:00 AM, Hit a few spots on the north shore around PJ and Buoy 9, 4 short fluke and 4 sea bass under size. Went out to the light house at the middle grounds, crowded but managed to made a dozen drifts for stripers and or blues. No fish, saw one blue pulled up trolling. went back...
Has anyone seen bunker on the surface to snag for the Stripers? Last few times out have not spotted any. Going to give the striper fishing a shot this Sunday by the triangle.
A little late - When out Friday morning Hit the middle grounds light house for some striper action. No great tide so tried some diamond jigging for a short while.
Shot off to Eaton's neck point made a bunch of drifts one short fluke. Headed to Smithtown but saw a few boats behind the platform...

As much as I love fluke fishing for a nice fillet once and a while maybe I should have some fun with the bass as noted. I don't eat the bass but like catching them. Thanks for the heads up. See you out there.
Well as planned went out Friday and caught only a few shorts, Then went out Yesterday and again only a few shorts. Fished PJ Friday due to the heavy winds and fished Smithtown outside porpoise channel yesterday. Still waiting on that set the hook and calling for the net - :)

Well, I was going fresh water fishing tomorrow but my brother-in law- is afraid of the rain. HAHA. I will be therefore going in the salt for Fluke. I be hanging around Smithtown first then back to P.J. area.
