I believe that is the gas tank. The construction and the straps all look like typical gas tank. I think what you're interpreting as a gas tank is the trunk floor.

Was not raining at drive time…a little road rain can chase dry rot.
Got ya was curious if they did or did not because of the detailing before a show if that makes any sense lol I know how Chevy is with his detailing

I had a 1970 Chevelle, 396 Cowl Induction, red, with the wide black stripe accents on the hood.
Yes they where meeting up at 7:0 in the morning

Hey George, a good friend of mine back in the day also had a 69’ Chevelle. His was a sleeper…… it was dingy yellow, black vinyl top, front bench seat, automatic on the column, with an L88 under the hood. It was a screamer!!!
