No fishing today, so I sat back and watched the movie - The Girl from Jones Beach starring Ronald Reagan. Ronny was rowing his boat off Jones Beach and had a rod out fishing. Laughed when I saw that. Nice pictures of Jones Beach in the 1940's. Wish I could go back in time and see what the Island was like in the 1940's. It was a much different experience driving along the Meadowbrook Parkway back then, there were farms /woods throughout Merrick/Freeport/Roosevelt , I wonder if there was an exit at Sunrise Hwy. and Merrick Road ? No Mcdonald's or Burger King to stop off at.
