Was determined to get out for a few hours this morning in spite of the heavy wind, and boy im glad i did! Hit my first spot in the bay and it was on! All small fish up to 15 inches, but hey it was great action. The tide died so i made a move to another spot, the fish were chewing there...
Its a very unique type of plug. They are strictly topwater and work best in calm flat waters. When you retrieve you want to move the tip of your rod so the plug kinda dances side to side on the way in. Hard to explain in words, maybe we should do a youtube video!
Got out this afternoon with my son after school for some excellent back bay bass fishing! Had the last 45mins of incoming then the first hour and a half of outgoing. All fish were caught on topwater plugs. Amazing when it’s quiet with no boat traffic and watch these fish crush a popper or a...
So yesterday I got on board my buddy’s boat to give it a shot targeting the inshore bluefin tuna. We struck out but saw at least 6 boats hooked up. Amazing sight so close to shore! So I had to get the skunk off, and got up this morning and targeted the back bay bass! Well it didn’t take long...
I wasn’t planning on fishing today, but on my drive home from work this morning I decided its too nice out not to give it a shot! I usually dont like starting out around 10am, but what ya gonna do. So I decided a bay day was in order and i still had some high water but it was dropping fast, so i...
Perfect conditions today for some topwater action. It was overcast, cooler, breezy and this kept alot of the Sunday boaters at home! So I figured id take advantage and try for some stripers! I found them in the back bays using spminnow plugs and shads. Caught multiple fish on both lure types...
Took a quick trip out this morning before work outta Jones to see if the fluke were still bighting. Well they were! Had 3 nice keepers on bucktails at the top of the tide. Slow drift, was able to use 2oz jig heads tipped with gulp amd/or sea robin strips. Probably had 30 shorts, it was non stop...
Went out yesterday morning with my son searching for mahi and bonito. We came outta Jones and headed south. We hit a bunch of pots with no luck, then we set up a troll and headed southwest towards some pieces of bottom. Nothing on the troll but came across something large floating and we...
we tried for cobia under the pods on monday afternoon, all we had were sharks and bluefish. More sharks than bluefish which is crazy but they are everywhere! Hopefully in the coming years it doesnt present a problem like it had in Florida.
Hey George, yes we were determined to get those mahi one way or another! We were throwing handfuls of very small, shredded up bunker and mixed in spearing. We threw it around the pot to keep them in the area. At one point we threw out the chum and a shark came up and scared the sh*t out of us...
Had a great morning with my partner in crime/son on the offshore grounds south of Jones. We got on the mahi early amd then limited out on sea bass using diamond jigs and slow pitch jigs. Mahi were chummed up and caught using small tins and live bait.
Chugged out yesterday with my son for some fluke/sea bass action. Ocean was like a lake and there was no breeze, so it was definitely HOT out there! We did great on both species. I was using high low rigs with gulp amd my son was using a slow pitch jig. Its definitely new to me but I like it...
