No late report this time!! Well, they said the fog was supposed to lift around 10am so i planned on a later than usual trip. Got to the inlet and the vis was at least a mile so i pushed forward! Got to my spot, started banging away at the fluke. After aboit an hour and a half I was socked back...
Sorry for the late report, but we fished Saturday all day outside of Jones on the reefs. It was a bit sporty getting thru that dangerous inlet in the morning but we pushed thru. Fishing was kinda slow. We ended up with 3 keepers IN the boat and one real nice fish was let to swim again by a bad...
My son and I got into some nice fish yesterday outta Jones. Last of the outgoing. Limited out on big knuckleheads and almost had our limit of ocean fluke in just under 3 hours! Used clams for the biscuits and gulp for the fluke. Fished around structure.
Fished the outgoing tide today in Reynolds, using bucktails and gulp. Water is getting warmer, not sure how long this bight will last. Plenty of action all tide, managed 2 nice ones for the table!
Your right, and im not saying its the MAIN reason, but definitely has played a part. Even when they started to regulate the fishery, we caught fish every time out, 6-10 fish a trip. Now its basically nonexistent
I personally think the comorants are the main reason the flounder disappeared. These invasive birds have been chowing down on them for 20years! People have said fertilizers, sewars, etc, but the flounder fishing in Jamaica Bay is horrible also and that bay has been cleaned up considerably.
Went out in search of some warmer water and do a little scouting and was rewarded with this hefty fluke! Safely released, can’t wait for opening day fluke!! Fished the outgoing tide, using small bucktails and diving plugs. Had small schoolie bass also. Hopefully a good sign!
