George, I follow all of Pete's reports and am envious of the quality catches you boys make. I can only hope it changes here on the north side.

The fluking out of Huntington has been degrading for many years now. It is very disappointing as fluking is my passion. I culled my share of keepers from mostly very short fish. The burst of action early on has become shorter season after season. Only one limit trip and no fish over 4 lbs for me...
We will be flying our flags in the Long Island sound TrumpStock boat parade. Starting at 12pm two groups, one from Port Jefferson and one from Port Washington, will have a slow cruise meeting in Oyster Bay. Everyone is welcomed to join along the way.

Fished the last of the ebb to slack and start of flood in the deep drop offs at Lloyds. The S/SW wind made for a perfect drift. The fish should be there and they were. BUT..............of the 15 or so fish I caught most were 16 to 17". Two fat 18 1/2" went back as well. Very depressing.

I have fished out of Huntington for over 50 years. I fish for all species from Lloyds to Crab Meadow and across to CT. When fluke showed up in the sound years ago they became my passion. I wanted that 10 lber......... and still do. Over the last 10 to 15 years early season success has wained as...
Yup, they do leak. Lep had a thread going quite a while back about special containers he and others use to store Gulp. I can not remember the name but I did buy two of them at the time from Amazon. They seal nicely but it is harder to get the gulp pieces out from the bottom of the container as...
George, Hoping you can tell me the bait type or color of Gulp if used. I am catching fish five or six miles west of you but mostly all shorts. thanks

After a very nice round of pitch and putt at Robert Moses Sunday we cruised through the parking lot at the Captree boat basin. Sad to see all the head boats tied to the dock on Memorial Day weekend. These poor suckers are really taking it on the chin. Which phase of boss Cuomo's reopening NY...
Had two 17" fish and 8 or 9 birds the first few hours of the outgoing off Morgan's. All on silicone bucktails with chartreuse or salmon 6" curly tail grubs. Water was 50 degrees. It was great to wet a line once again.

So POTUS tells the country we will sequester the older first then "Roll the Dice' with the rest of our citizens? Seriously? Really seriously? They would have hung him. I am not happy about the way this has turned out either but there was no other path. It is easy to second guess now but there...
'Roll the Dice'. That's the bottom line. Whether you agreed with the shutdown or not we as a country COULD NOT roll the dice. How could we possibly have done that??

I think the biggest problem for the six-packs and head boats will be enforcing the 6' rule. Maybe that is why they have not been given the go-ahead. The six-packs might have to be 3 packs. On the Laura Lee site, they are stating they will only allow 25% of capacity on board once they start. So...
I am with George. I want to be drifting the Morgan estate near Asharoken beach in 15' of water May 4th bouncing a 1/2 oz. Spro with a 6' Salmon grub.

Huntington town has stopped the use of any leafblowers. The landscapers now have to use rakes and brooms. Also, how come they are still allowed to pack 4 in the cab? Some with masks, some without.

It is my understanding EVERYTHING on the island will be closed until the 29th. Our private cooperative in Huntington has shut down as well.

Pete, thanks for the recommendation on the Black Hole 6-8 Charter Special. Exactly what I was looking for. Super light, moderate/fast tip and longer than average handle. Sweet deal at $185 with no tax as well.

Pete, I enjoyed the story about Billy. Although I only knew him for a few years I admired his passion for fishing and Shamrock boats. A truly good man.
