Now I'm totally depressed!

I know I should have expected it, but the docks are all in and ready to go. I've been getting the boat and tackle ready and now this.

Dear Marina Member:

At the present time Nissequogue River State Park Marina is closed. New York State Parks will continue to evaluate the situation and determine when to reopen.

Thank you,

Bill Purtill

I read, and not sure how reliable, that all the governors of the northeast agreed to coordinate and open the economy at the same time. This is a good thing. I am not usually a fan of shared responsibility. However if they do this together it will have the benefit of a quicker recovery and not one person can be singled out. Therefore If we re-open May 1st, everyone that dies would have been on Cuomo (or so it will be portrayed.)

I sincerely doubt any NE state will "open" May 1. NYC may be on the downside of the flattened curve, but Boston is definitely on the upside. IMO, you'll need at least 4 weeks to pass after the "Peak" to be moderately safe to start limited openings.

Hate to piss on everyone's dreams, but that's my educated opinion. I'm looking forward to the Guvs vs the Pres duking it out, probably in the courts...

I'm hoping they'll somehow see the obvious. Getting people to fish is a good thing. Anglers and outdoors people have been dealing with rules forever. I just don't get why it is that I can go into stores that have a lot more traffic than many tackle shops see in a year so I can then go home and lock myself up. When I can jump in my boat and get away from people? I'm guessing they're keeping the CG available?

It just seems wrong.

Absolutely, that's where you have the dichotomy in state governmental opinions. Maine was gung-ho "fishing is good" from day one, even eliminating all licensing needs for the entire month of April.

To be fair, a crowded fishing spot where I fish would be me and a neighbor, not the "Armada" like at Buoy 11 on a Sunday afternoon or the mobs on a trout stream on Opening Day. It's up to all arms of a State Government to get their input into a State's restrictions.

I get that, but the vast majority of anglers, myself one of them, hates fishing near people. We all have our secret spots, and if I don't have a secret spot I'll go looking for one. Recreational saltwater fishing generates billions of dollars of economic activity with an inherent "social distancing" We have been practicing that forever. I never even like people near me on my own boat! This is a no brainer to help open the economy and keep social distancing, This isn't a ballpark or hockey stadium its the wide-open beautiful oceans and bays.

KEEP AMERICA FISHING!

I am with George. I want to be drifting the Morgan estate near Asharoken beach in 15' of water May 4th bouncing a 1/2 oz. Spro with a 6' Salmon grub.

regards Holty

I thought I read someplace that when fishing on a private boat you need to maintain at least 500' distance from any other boat .......

8-)

Absolutely, now convince your governor of that...

Marina's are open in Ct., went down to the ramp in Milford to see if the docks were in, 5 boats out and one was just launching as I pulled up.
Been working from home since mid March and on the weekends prepping the boat when I'm not working on the yard.
With the weather the way it's been, I'm in no hurry to get out there, I have some mahogany on the boat that needs to be refinished, I sanded it down last weekend, but need the drying time before I put a finish on it.

You were right..... *deep sigh*
