Try & finish getting the boat ready for it's nap. Winterize the raw water pumps, & call the shrink wrapper. Possibly start to service the boat trailer wheel bearings.
Part of putting the boat to sleep is I always take out the drain plug, always a little water in the bilge. I had one hell of a time breaking it loose, thought I had put never seize compound on it, almost sure I did. When it gets reinstalled what does the brain trust say, never seize compound, or...
I knew the weather was coming, but thought I could get a few hours in WRONG, to make a long story short, wind, rain, loads of weed in the water, & a much stronger than expected ebb tide all led to a bust of a last trip. Weed made some spots unfishable. When I finally had enough, put a crab on &...
Couldn't pass up the weather, & got out today for what may be the last trip. I usually save leftover green crabs in the bait freezer, & ended up with a big bag full & that's all I brought, I don't think I'll make that mistake again, they are real soft, first tap from Mr. Tog & the crab is gone...
Probably a wise move Capt I debated wether to go or not, took a few moves to find a place to hide, & looking at conditions for the next week time is getting short so I decided to go. Wednesday looks like a window, then next week is a short week with the holiday, then I think I'm done.
Fresh blackfish & one leftover piece of seabass headed for the oven topped with a little butter, breadcrumbs, Romano cheese, black & green olives & tomatoes
Got out today in not great conditions, had a W/N/W wind against a flood tide. No sea monsters, but put two solid keepers on ice, putting back at least 5 over 15" & under 16". Hope to get out two more trips, then I guess I'm done.
