    I believe that is the gas tank. The construction and the straps all look like typical gas tank. I think what you're interpreting as a gas tank is the trunk floor.

    I believe it is the 767 based replacement for the KC-135 and KC-10. A KC-135 is a quad-engine aircraft and the KC-10 is a tri-jet, but has been retired.
