Thanks Pequa, I have a brand new 3.5 HP Tohatsu that has 3 hours total I can use on one of those boats. Saw one of those boats on You Tube fishing in San Francisco Bay. Seemed pretty good. Would be nice taking that boat up to Northern Lake George and avoid all the hassle of trailering. I use...
Pequa, For a guy in your 70's you have tons of energy to go out on back to back days and kayak ! I'm 60 and trailering a 25 Panga is a lot of work, I'm dead tired at the end of the day. Just balancing yourself all day on the boat with each wave tires you out at the end of the day.
Re: that...
You'd do much better at the Loop Bridge , there's a big body of fluke there . I caught about 50 shorts the other day fishing maybe 50 feet off the shore on the South East side of the bridge. Drifted near the bridge down to the sandbar SE of there. Have you considered buying a 14 foot Rowboat ...
Sometimes freshwater fishing is almost as good as saltwater fishing . I'll never forget fishing with my father in Northern Lake George when it was pushing 100 degrees in early June. Was out there baking hot , fished in a cove there and for 3 hours we caught one big Northern Pike after another on...
I turned 60 in February. I think turning 60 is way more emotional than turning 40. Now we're Senior Citizens ! Don't forget those discounts. Did you use large baits for those big keepers ? I was content catching 50 shorts the other day , pretended I was fishing for winter flounder. Waiting for...
Got out early today about 6:30AM Wednesday 7/3 , at the end of incoming tide . Tried fluke fishing by the 2nd Wantagh Bridge, nothing, Tried at the 3rd Wantagh bridge , nothing. Fluke fishing is much better during the outgoing tide with the warm water . Incoming tide brings in 60 degree water...
The only way they're bringing back flounder is by stocking the bays with millions of young flounder and building up a new population in each bay. Flounder aren't coming back because there aren't enough of them to build a population . Predators keep them from rebuilding. It's the same with cod...
I'll never forget going out to Port Of Egypt during it's heydey in the mid to late 1970's when they rented 16 footers . They probably had 25 Rental boats they quickly rented on the weekends. We drove all the way out there from Nassau County , didn't know much about Peconic Bay Fishing, the...
Went out early 6/25 Tuesday, got out there about 7:30 AM, last 3 hours of incoming 10-15 NW winds, not much weed. Tried bucktailing around Fundy Bridge , no action. Went to the East side of the Meadowbrook and drifted in a SE direction across the channel, no action. Went out and tried drifting...
Where there's 2 , there's others . Hope a population builds there. I remember being off Montauk 30 years ago fishing next to the draggers . They were scooping up Whiting and there were dead whiting floating on the surface . Saw a gigantic blue shark about 12 feet long swimming on the surface...
I think the whiting were there because it's so deep near Plum Gut. I think it's almost 300 feet deep in certain areas near there. Probably the good bottom there has a lot of food for them.
I just might do that and start fishing with white bucktails again. I'm new to the Wantagh Park area because I launch there now and don't really know the hotspots there like I knew in the Freeport Area fishing there almost 50 plus years. Re: the Mechanic, they put the gasket on wrong and it...
Looks like a repeat of last summer with a slow fluke bite. Launched my boat at Wantagh Park Wed. 6/19 around 5:45 AM expecting not many boats on the water because it was mid week. Found out later in the day it was a holiday. You don't pay attention to time, dates, holidays when you're retired...

That looked like Jones Inlet a couple of years ago. I remember looking out the inlet seeing surf fishing guys standing in water about 100 feet off the Jetty and I thought they were walking on water.
Be very careful if you have a deep keel like a Downeaster because one time I ran aground in the...
