Another Braid-to-Leader Knot that's pretty straightforward

Kind of a Big Deal - In My Mind Anyway

Though I stick with the PR Bobbin Knot for my blackfishing braid to shock leaders, I cannot do the "bobbin thing" on the water. If by some happenstance I do lose my leader, then this is a knot I would consider tying whilst bobbing around out there. What I never use is the Double Uni, as I've had those fail while pulling free from snags. Anyways, check this out:

Might be difficult pulling this off on the water. That bench seems to be the stabilization factor keeping everything tight.

Maybe it's the heavier line he's using but under tension, that bulky lead knot is going to get caught up on tip.

I'm partial to FG knot. On the fly I'll tie a uni to uni as long as I don't need to cast.

Have you tried the PR Bobbin Knot? Faster than the FG and stronger as well, from personal experience.

Its my go-to for my blackfish leaders. It flies thru the guides. I've gone to it because one of most favoritest tog rods (a now-discontinued Daiwa Proteus SS H) has the tiniest guides you'll ever see, and no other knot, not even the FG will cleanly reel-back thru them like the PR will. The PR knot was created by the Asian slow-pitch guys, because their SP rods typically use fairly small single-foot guides as the runners, which could be torn right off the rod blank by a hung, larger knot.

Using the bobbin is all about finding the right tension for its little wind-on spool. But once you do find it, just leave it with that amount of tension and it'll be good to go from that date onward.

Plus the PR is way cool to create, so there's that too. It's really just one more skill to master. But once you've got it, you've got it. All the bobbins out there function the same. Mine cost like $12 from AliExpress and works just as well as a $40 version. I'm typically joining 30lb Braid to 40lb Berkley Big Game on my baitcasters and 20lb braid to 30lb Big Game on my spinners.

Here's how its done. I typically make my PR's half that length, but to each his own.
