    Marine surveyor

Steve Maddock is the best I have ever dealt with. Thorough does not begin to describe him: (631) 728-7970

    Fishing Seminars

Saw I had another email about All Pro - anyone have an idea on the cost this year? My email just says that today is the last day to enjoy 20% off but doesn't actually list a price.

    Fishing Seminars

I went two years ago and attended the Skinner seminar. The rest were meh. Attended one by a couple of Montauk Captains on fluking - I was the only one in the room. They were nice guys (don't remember their names) but they were talking about 40 pound test and using spearing and squid and I...

    Fishing Seminars

Third, fourth or fifth vote for the Ward Melville show. The Edison NJ and Rhode Island Saltwater shows are also great (but a bit of a hike). I’ve stopped going to the Rockland Show. Too many freshwater and hunting exhibits (nothing wrong with that, but saltwater fishing definitely feels...

Any North Fork Shallow water jig toggers out there?

There are absolutely are. I know Strongs Marina does do transient slips - they are about 5 minutes from Sound (make sure if you call them, you make it clear, you are asking about their location closest to Sound - they have 2 locations on the Sound side but their main one is about 1/2 hour ride...

Any North Fork Shallow water jig toggers out there?

Theres a great State launch in Mattituck about 2 minutes from Sound. Make a right when you exit jetty to head East and there are a ton of rock piles from there to Orient.

    Spot Lock

Not directed at me again (lol) but I have the Solix and the sounder is great. Leaps and bounds ahead of Garmin in my opinion. The map features however, a bit primitive compared to Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, etc. With the Minn Kota, your Humminbird unit will actually talk to the TM and allow...

    Spot Lock

Not directed at me but I can tell you it’s hard to beat the Sam’s Club every day price on Duracell Group 27 and 31s. I paid 179 for the Group 31s. Again, almost impossible to find cheaper and they are quality batteries.

    Spot Lock

For those that fluke, you can also use the jog feature to drift with the current during wind against tide conditions and/or to create a drift if the current is barely moving.

    Fire At Braun's Seafood- Cutchogue

Terrible. You have to love the volunteer firefighting communities of the North Fork - it's not surprising that they had the fire contained so quickly. Best of luck to the family that owns Brauns on a speedy rebuild and hope they whether the storm of all the lost product.

    6-inch Gulp Grubs

I do hope the American Stink work - would be nice to have an alternative to Gulp. It’s just tough right now to prospect with them since we know Gulp works and I personally have never used AS nor do I know anyone who has. What I’d really love to do is a side by side on them Gulp vs AS when...

    6-inch Gulp Grubs

Happy to share information - was surprised to see these at under 5 - I ordered 10 myself last night :)

    6-inch Gulp Grubs

So not the 6 inch Grubs but these definitely work when the sand eels are thick. 4.99 a pack as long as you order $25 worth of merchandise through Amazon...

    6-inch Gulp Grubs

Amazon frequently has the 6 inch grubs as “add-on” items for under 5 a pack. They are definitely softer the past 3 years or so but still produce if you can get them past the Sea robins, Black Sea bass, porgies, etc....

    'EYE PROTECTION'

I've had more sunglasses than I can name (Costa, Smiths, Ray Ban, Oakley, etc. [but to be fair, never Maui Jims]) but the absolute best pair I've ever tried were a pair of Salt Life Zeiss lens sunglasses. They do a remarkable job cutting out the glare.
