Marine surveyor

I have a friend looking to purchase a boat. Does anyone have a marine surveyor they have used that they would recommend?

I can't take the boat out now. But a pre-inspection may be prudent.

Just to follow up, Steve Maddock is the best. If anyone needs a marine surveyor you may want to consider him.
He did the inspection on a 23 foot Steiger Craft and I was impressed on how through he was. Thank you to NoFlukenName for the recommendation.

I used him several years ago for my insurance survey. He was very good. The last time I needed a survey, he was all booked up and I had to use someone else.

He's tough to book as boat season approaches. I know Long Island clients will often fly him all over the country to survey their boats. Ironically, I dealt with him initially because a local buyer was surveying a boat I was selling. I've used him a few times since when I was buying.
