Going to Tampa at the end of March with some buddies to knock the rust off before the spring. We will be targeting everything that swims, but were specifically looking to get into some big snook, reds and hopefully Tarpon.

Interesting. I assume any bass that make their way into shallower brackish areas that might heat up quicker may be more active than those bass found around the deeper waters around the bridges.
One thing I have recently forced myself to do is take apart and service all of my own reels (with the exception of my Van Staals) Makes fixing them when issues occur way easier, and I know exactly what types of lubricants and oils I use to make them smooth as butter
Yeah from what I understand that is the case. I've had fish in the creeks around this time of the year, but never January & Feb. I suspect they are there but dormant like you said
Lep - I've seen them and held them but I have heard mixed reviews from people who have used it in the same application as I do. I don't mind going the custom route, I'd rather have something the way I want it than to compromise.

Anyone have any blank/rod suggestions for deep water bucktailing up to 5-6 OZ? I too like stiff tip shorter rods in the 6'6" or 7' range. I currently use one of the Tsnuami slow pitch XH rods but its 7'6" which is a bit too long for me. Rod will be paired with the Daiwa Lexa 300 I use already...
