    Kind of true. Biggest problem, as always, is the shortcuts. One of the few times government should be spending the people's money, and they chintz on the plumbing. I guess they stole too much and had to find some way to stay close to the budget.

    I'd guess it's more about liability than reality. All of us know the ocean is lousy with sharks, but most people have no idea how common they are.

    This was a conversation we used to have at work, about how liable is a non-CDL driver for exceeding the ratings of their vehicle and trailer. It's not uncommon. We had repaired a huge wood-chipper for a customer and they sent this young girl with an F-150 to pick it up. I guess it made it okay...

    I watched that this morning. Complacency is probably the second most dangerous risk in aviation. Maintenance would be the first. Here we had both. So tragic. Five human lives and a priceless piece of history. 🙁
