    Gulp! Sale

Meh, I don't worry so much about that, because I find that I lose nearly as many GULP! baits to snagged rigs as I do to tail bite-offs. Sux for sure, but fishing where I fish, I don't expect much longevity from any bait, or rig for that matter. What I truly hate is having a slow-catch trip and...

Pequa - give the 4" Grubs a try over the swimming mullets. They have a tougher tail that doesn't get torn off as easily.

Just got my Walmart order 6 & 5" versions. Don't know why the 5" bottles are cloudy. Maybe the cold in the FedEx truck. Meh, for the money I don't really care. For those that will ask, there's 10 pcs per bottle, plus at least $3-$4 worth of the juice as well. Good deal at what amounts to less...

Another Braid-to-Leader Knot that's pretty straightforward

So here's a "motorized" version of the PR Bobbin Knot. He's calling it an FG, but is more of a PR. THe FG criss-crosses the braid over the leader, while the PR lays it on top of itself. Anyway I do like my gadgets, that's for sure!

Thank you Matt! - ordered those and some of the on-sale 5" grubs in various colors as well. Actually, I prefer the 5" size for my needs. Less short bites.

Another Braid-to-Leader Knot that's pretty straightforward

Its my go-to for my blackfish leaders. It flies thru the guides. I've gone to it because one of most favoritest tog rods (a now-discontinued Daiwa Proteus SS H) has the tiniest guides you'll ever see, and no other knot, not even the FG will cleanly reel-back thru them like the PR will. The PR...

Another Braid-to-Leader Knot that's pretty straightforward

Have you tried the PR Bobbin Knot? Faster than the FG and stronger as well, from personal experience.

Another Braid-to-Leader Knot that's pretty straightforward

Though I stick with the PR Bobbin Knot for my blackfishing braid to shock leaders, I cannot do the "bobbin thing" on the water. If by some happenstance I do lose my leader, then this is a knot I would consider tying whilst bobbing around out there. What I never use is the Double Uni, as I've had...

Of course not! A pink (or red) trimmed reel clashes with our BH Charter Special's guide wrap's light blue trim. It is an unforgivable "fishing fashion" choice! Naah. What he really "needs" is a reel like this to make it a proper match. My sky-blue trimmed Daiwa OG Zillion Coastal...

LiTugboat is correct, I was not aware that Abu cheaped out on this new version of the Revo X Winch. Graphite frames are to be avoided for what we do. What they offer in corrosion resistance they steal in rigidity. Any frame flex at all and the drive gears will micro-misalign, causing faster...

Not for me. Too fast of a ratio. I'd recommend going with a Revo Winch, Revo X WInch, or my personal favorite the Daiwa Tatula 150P. All have ratios in the 5:1 range. When used for pulling bottom fish, mo' slower is mo' better.

    Blackfish Jigs and colors

I agree - color appears to be irrelevant. I have good friends that use unpainted versions and they catch as well as any painted color(s). Can I say that on a SPECIFIC day a painted jig won't do better? Nope, I cannot. But in general, it does seem that SH27 is right. Having said that, I still...

This Is Why I Will Not work on Daiwa's MQ reels

And will never own one either, for that matter. Just when you think Shimano has over-engineered their spinning reels with WAY too many parts, Daiwa comes along and says "Hold my beer!" They went away from their solid original LT reels, like the Ballistic LT and Procyon LT and went with this...
