I figured with the weather changing its time for some back bay bass! So today the conditions were what I love, overcast and a high tide around sunrise. The stripers were cooperative as the tide started to ebb. Using all artificial lures such as swimming plugs, poppers and shads. The 4in shad...
Came outta Jones Inlet this morning to find a gorgeous ocean waiting for me! So I pushed forward to some local wrecks, reefs and rockpiles to find some summer flatties before its all over. Found some good ones with the biggest goin 7.15lbs! Also had plenty of short sea bass and plenty of small...

Got out this morning in search of another cobia outta Jones and we fished the pods and after only a few drifts through them we nailed this beauty! Great eating fish, can’t wait to have it! Water temp was 74. Great fighting fish.
Got out this morning with a couple guys from work, we had about 500 shorts, lol, but managed three nice keepers! All keepers once again caught on top of the tide with the gulp spearing combo. Outgoin tide was slow and just a few shorts. Fished in Reynolds channel once again. Water temp was 64.
Got out for a few hours and had 20 fluke, 2 of which were nice keepers in the bay in Reynolds channel. Had the two keepers back to back at the top of the tide. After the change just more shorts. Used gulp and local spearing on a high low type rig.
It was an all out bass blitz last night at Sundown. We found the bass rolling on top in a usual spot of ours. Some big fish too! They were crushing topwater plugs, its quite a sight to see a teen size fish crush a plug! Also witnessed several fish chasing up our plugs right next to the boat...
Got on some nice fluke this morning on the top of the tide. Used gulp only. Water was hovering around 50 degrees. Baggee two keepers and a bunch of shorts in the back bays. Great to be back at it! Have a great season everyone!
Got out this morning as soon as I got home from work, probably ran a few red lights to get out as quick as possible, lol, and it paid off!! Had 2 overs on the troll, then decided to switch it up and hit the bunker pods. What a blast and a fun way to fish. Had fish up to 40” and got a sweet 30”...
Just a couple years ago throwing back fish 40+ inches seemed absolutely insane, but hey we play by the rules and got this nice slot bass for the table today! This fall run is very different than last year, no sand eels! Alotta bass being caught live lining bunker. The white mojo was hot today...
Got my very busy, old partner out today for some ocean bass fishing and we scored, but no keepers!! Lol. All big fish, all released to swim again! Had them on Tony Maja bunker spoons trolling between Jones and Debbs inlets. Get ‘em now, season’s almost over!
