Fluke off of Sunken Meadow

Now that I know that there are fluke around it's been tough to think about anything else. So I got out around 9am and caught the last of the incoming. Fishing in 10-15 feet of water the feed was on. I use Gulp only, no meat at all, and they were tearing them up. I highly recommend 4-inch Gulp here. Colors change by the day but green and white have seen most of the action. In three hours fishing, I caught my limit, none over 20-inches, and had numerous fish 1/2 short. These fish are on some nice-sized sand eels and manta shrimp.

The only bummer of the day was when I had my best fish of the year on - maybe a 4-5 pounder - and when I went to net it, it splashed and just swam off. Needless to say it's a tough pill to swallow when you feel you lost a fish at the net. As it turns out, the fish swam away because the hook broke. It was a new Spro that I used on 3 other trips.

Nice job on the fluke, I messed the back up yesterday doing yardwork not sure of next trip for me. I think everything made today is cheap i noticed on my shad rigs i troll with the hooks are a lot thinner then normal

Glad to hear the resurgence of a Fluke bite in your area, George. While we are catching some fish int he Peconic's it is still a struggle and almost no large fish. I think the largest Fluke on my boat so far this season was a mere 22".
Still, I am optimistic. as I anticipate the Gardiner's bite will be a little better this summer.
