Anybody know any info about stocking of the ponds in Hempstead Lake State Park? I know they stock it occasionally but I never see any details.

Yeah Jenna told me about it so I hoped on the new band wagon lol.
Sadly you won't see me there, I'm in the army and leave alot. I will be heading back to Fort Leonardwood Missouri in less than a week and will not return to New York till May.

belmont is getting some fish today.the big stocking for thr festival is done the day before.ps belmont has been stocked a number of times this past fall and winter from the parks dept

Yep I was there today and spoke to one of the DEC guys he said it's been getting stocked all winter.

I was there early and got a few rainbows. Word must have gotten out when the trucks showed up because within a half hour there was a decent crowd and more people showing up in the lot.

The ponds in hempsted lake state park .South pond and Mcdonald pond are only stocked in the fall for the fishing festival in october

There here men. Upper Twin Lakes in Wantagh. Lots of big 2 year old+ browns and 1year old rainbows. Lot of guys doing C& R since last night when they were stocked. Same thing today. so they have not been wiped out yet. So much fun like catching snappers but big uns. Beats staying at home. Get em while supplies last.

They are spreading out now and moving around in Wantagh. will be heading to Massapequa Reservoir for 1st time in years. hopefully some more trout action in a little while. This so much fun.

Sorry if I offend anyone, but is it just me that thinks fish stocking for the main purpose of having those fish caught absurd?? I can understand stocking to get a sustainable, self-reproducing population established, but this regular "resupplying the shelves for catching" seems so foreign and futile; just one step away from "shooting fish in a barrel".

Guess it's why fresh water fishing never tickled my fancy and catching a native, brook trout is on my "Fishing Bucket List". Maine has quite a few places that can make that happen.
