2nd body of missing kayaker found

I always found those squarish orange ones useless even though they are approved. They take a.little time to put on in a rush and if worn incorrectly, persons head easily slips through.

I used to wear a vest when running but took it off when fishing. Was lucky since I think its a bad practice when fishing alone.

I only carry offshore life jackets on my boat. They all have whistles too.

I tie whistles to our yak pfds. I always buried the four square pfds that came with each new boat back under covering them with the vest style. I always chuckle on a cruise when we have the pfd safety demo with those square ones with the four foot plus straps. Any more info on the two unfortunates ?

Type V PFD’s are designed for specific activities, and therefore may, or may not, be suitable, or meet the standards of either the old Type III or newer designation Level 70 both of which are U.S.C.G. approved. Type V should state on the label the activities for which it has been U.S.C.G. Approved.

This seemed like a better ldea than my pne piece Carhartt suit. It is Coast guard approved and some seemed to be used against the cold and in rescue operations. The only issue is it is a bit bulky.
