A GULP! Substitute? Maybe So . . .

I always drop my gulp back in the jar when restarting a drift. I use spray on long drifts, or after a catch and release, or a keeper.
You are correct, Vinnie, that is one of the fine points some folks miss.

It is also why I prefer the wide mouth snap lid type containers instead of the screw on lids. Much easier to dunk your baits while resetting the drift.

I still have a couple of Snapware jars with a nice widemouthed hinged lid that is fully gasketed yet opens with one finger. I hear they are tough to find now but I just saw a similar container called Snaplock on Amazon. 2QT capacity with the same type of lid, just a rectangular container while mine are round. Looks like it should do the job and a steal for $*!

Funny you mention that, Mr hook line and sinker Frank Sr probably has the same thing you have, and this past year he was complaining about his containers and was looking for new ones. He said I’ve had these forever and can’t find them anymore. I will mention to him about the ones you found

Following up on Capt. Mike's Amazon lead, here's a few examples of the many types they carry:

For those that prefer to carry smaller containers, maybe like on Kayaks or in a surf bag:

Funny, maybe its because I am always fishing and paddling while sitting the last few years but even when I boated I never had a problem with leaky Plano liquid bait containers. Since they are rectangular with the jar-like openings i can open and close it one handed by putting it up against the side of the yak cockpit.

Sorry forgot to post the image of the container I saw on Amazon. yesterday. Although I have not tested this one yet it looks like it will fit the bill. At a whopping $7.22 it's worth a try!
