A New Era of Fishing with DAIWA 24 Samurai Braided Line

Fishing enthusiasts, both seasoned and newcomers, have a new tool to enhance their fishing experience: the DAIWA 24 Samurai Braided Line. This revolutionary braided line combines strength, durability, and a smooth finish, setting a new standard in the fishing world.

The Legacy of DAIWA Braided Lines

DAIWA has been a pioneer in the fishing industry since introducing braided lines in 1970. Over the years, DAIWA's innovative designs and technological advancements have made them a leader in the field. The original DAIWA Samurai Braid launched in 2009, quickly earning a loyal following among bass anglers due to its strength, smoothness, and reliability.

Introducing the Samurai 8 Braid

Now, DAIWA takes fishing to the next level with the Samurai 8 Braid. This 8-carrier braid, crafted from eight exceptional microfilaments, is meticulously woven together to create a superior product. According to Chris Martin, DAIWA's Field Marketing Manager, "The tight weaving process is what makes Samurai 8 Braid so special. Impressively, Samurai 8 Braid stays exceptionally narrow for its rated strength, and the new weaving process makes it more durable, too."

Enhanced Features for Superior Performance

The Samurai 8 Braid offers several key features that set it apart:

  • Abrasion Resistance: The tight weave greatly improves abrasion resistance, making it harder to nick the line when eight individual strands perform as one. This characteristic ensures that the line remains intact even in rough fishing conditions, providing anglers with the confidence to tackle challenging environments without worrying about their line failing.
  • Performance Coating: The exclusive coating maximizes casting distance and reduces line noise, ensuring minimal friction as it passes through the guides. This feature is particularly beneficial for those long casts where every inch matters. The reduced friction also means smoother retrievals, making your overall fishing experience more enjoyable.
  • Fast Sink Rate: The coating also reduces friction in the water, allowing the line to sink faster. This feature is crucial for keeping lures and rigs pinned to the bottom and maintaining a tight tether to smaller baits. Whether you're targeting deep-water species or need your bait to reach the strike zone quickly, the fast sink rate of Samurai 8 Braid provides a significant advantage.
  • Perfect Roundness: Unlike other braided lines that can have irregular shapes, Samurai 8 Braid comes out of the factory perfectly spherical, preventing notches in your guides. The round shape ensures a consistent performance, reducing wear and tear on your equipment and enhancing the longevity of both your line and guides.

A Closer Look at Samurai 8 Braid's Construction

The meticulous construction of the Samurai 8 Braid is what sets it apart from other lines on the market. The use of eight microfilaments, tightly woven together, creates a line that is both incredibly strong and remarkably thin. This design allows for a higher strength-to-diameter ratio, meaning you can use a thinner line without sacrificing strength. This is particularly advantageous when fishing in clear waters where a less visible line can make all the difference in getting a bite.

Specifications and Availability

The Samurai 8 Braid is available in nine different weights and two spool sizes:

  • Weights: 8-lb., 10-lb., 15-lb., 20-lb., 30-lb., 40-lb., 50-lb., 65-lb., and 80-lb.
  • Spool Sizes: 165-yard and 330-yard
  • Color: Dark green
  • MSRP: $24.99 for 165-yard spool and $44.99 for 330-yard spool

Expert Insights: Why Choose Samurai 8 Braid?

As an angler with years of experience, I've had the opportunity to test various braided lines, and the DAIWA 24 Samurai Braided Line stands out for several reasons. First and foremost, its durability and strength are unmatched. I've used it in heavy cover and rocky bottoms, and it has consistently performed without any signs of wear or breakage. The abrasion resistance is truly impressive, allowing me to fish with confidence in conditions that would quickly fray other lines.

The casting distance is another standout feature. The performance coating on the Samurai 8 Braid reduces line noise and friction, making long casts smooth and effortless. This has been particularly beneficial when targeting species that are easily spooked by the presence of a boat or human activity. The ability to cast further means you can stay at a distance and still reach your target.

Additionally, the fast sink rate has proven invaluable in certain fishing situations. When fishing in deeper waters or needing to keep my bait close to the bottom, the Samurai 8 Braid sinks quickly, allowing my lures to reach the strike zone faster. This has resulted in more strikes and successful catches, especially when using techniques that require precise bait placement.

OK, the marketing hype sounds very impressive. Can we hear from our own resident "tackle expert" Lep on his opinion?

How does it knot to Fluoro? Do the standard braid knots work? Does the hard smooth surface bite into the leader for a secure knot or does it slip? Inquiring minds want to know!

Sadly Maria just seems to post the Manufacturer's product introduction blurb. Seems we have to look elsewhere to get any performance info...

Actually it's called a press release.
That was the phrase the I was trying to remember. Regardless, few, if any of the cynical Old Salts here pattern their buying habits solely on a Press Release until someone with extensive experience shakes the product out in real world fashion...

I'll send you a spool if you put it through your testing and report back with your findings.

It will not be edited..

Would love to but, I'm always in fear of running into a school of football BFTs, which has happened. Therefore I spool up my Penn Clash II entirely in braid, ~ 300 yds of Suffix 832, 30 lb braid. Don't want the risk of a backing to mainline knot failing or getting hung up in the guides as I scramble to get the boat started and begin the chase.

Thanks for the kind offer, but it's best if you were to give the line to @Leprechaun, and his smaller line capacity inshore level winds...

The truth is, I don't know anyone willing to try out a new fishing line without firsthand knowledge.

If you have a spool of brightly colored 20lb test send it to me. I’ll put it on my spin-jig outfit. No dark green or gray please.

Here’s my current favorite. It seems nearly every year there’s an improvement in line technology. Maybe this new Daiwa stuff will be this year’s bestie.
