Annual Ward Melville Fishing Expo

I was at the show from about 10:00 to 12noon. It was a great show. I didn't attend any of the lectures, just walked around and bought some hooks, jigs ect. I saw some great looking vintage Penn reels. I almost took home a few but I had to stop myself.

I spoke to a woman at the NYS DEC table. There are 4 new proposed reefs. She told me the permit process for the 16 fathom reef, between Jones and Fire Island Inlets, is still active. I had thought the project was dead. That would be a great place for a reef!

I will be back next year for sure.

Thanks everyone for attending the show and supporting the club

just wanted to put a note out that raffle winners will be posted Monday afternoon (the kids get to do the work) and either I or one of the top kids in the club will contact you to let you know you won the raffle starting tomorrow afternoon/evening

We have all the winning tickets taped to the raffle boards
The kids need to create a pdf with winners so we can organize for collection. I also have to secure a spot that will have someone available to check out the raffles during school hours and also schedule 2 nights for pick up
Once the winners are done, I will start by texting them tomorrow and calling the rest

I was at the show from about 10:30am to about 1:30. It was great running into some familiar faces and meeting some new ones. I had some kick ass street tacos from one of the food trucks.
I caught the Blackfish Seminar by the Orient Star boys
I stopped by and finally met BennyV
BTW…I love my hat!

You put together a great show Bob! The kids were fantastic. I can’t wait for next year! Thanks for all the hard work.

Now I know the show is free. But if I may offer constructive criticism, the presentations in the LGI room gave the presenters a difficult situation. They were in the dark, the audience was in the dark and the presentations did not show up well in the screen. I am not sure if they can fix this.

Usually one of the students jumps up and fixes the lighting in the LGI room. I recall in 2020 John Skinner had to practically have the young man stand at the switches. I only viewed parts of three seminars in the auditorium Saturday.

There was a student there, who basically was at a loss to fix it. No criticism for him. He did the best he could with the situation. Maybe speak to presenters in the room for feedback. I know Captain Doug Tobak kept putting up slides no one could see.

Sorry for the delay. Lots going on and new group to show the ropes.
