Another 10% reduction on sea bass and porgy

It looks like we will be seeing a reduction on Seabass and porgies for 23. I’m not sure what that means.

These people are sick in the head.
You caled this earlier this year. Here is the kicker. When they did a one year assessment we were not over fishing. But they felt it wasn't accurate enough so they did it over five years which put us over.

Fishing a lot of north shore areas this past season I'm not sure where they get there numbers from good lord the porgies are everywhere, sea bass on the other hand had a lot of nice fish but 16'' really had a lot of fish going back

Another reduction for a couple of the more prolific fish in our waters? Is this only a NY thing?

Will we, once again, be taking a cut while anglers from adjacent states fishing the same waters retain their far more liberal quotas? If so, how do we dump the NY regulators?

Actually it's coastwide so we're all screwed.

Well then the answer is relatively simple. Bring all the other states into compliance with NY's regs. That way we all suffer togther. (That's right, I'm looking at you New Jersey). Maybe then the outcry will move these regulators to a more sane policy.

Agreed. But all of these regs are based on historical data.

And HISTORICALLY, NJ has found more ways to weasel their way out of tight regs than a Houdini weaseled his way out of handcuffs...
Their leaders were always considered fish hogs, but it managed to get them a bigger piece of the pie. If it didn't go to them, I'm sure they would go somewhere.

I have been reading the docs on how this came about and it's kinda shocking but not surprising. It's was looking like we would see a 10% increase across the board right up until the last minute.

I have to start preparing for the mob that will here tonight!

Merry Christmas!
