I fished with our resident pro Pete aka Leprechaun and Captain Mike Bady south of Jones. There was plenty of fluke to be caught as we managed a limit while picking through fish after fish. We all went through a lot of Gulp as the bottom was full of life. And there weren't just fluke down there. Of course, we had our occasional sea bass, and now we're seeing more and more chub mackerel, which have also caught the attention of sharks.
We sighted a few of sharks up top and one of them grabbed ahold of Petes fluke offering. He battled it for a while and got it boat side surprising us all that it was a 6-foot brown shark. Quite a feat for a fluke outfit!
I'll estimate that we culled through about 100 fish before reaching our limit. No monsters but there was a 4 1/2 in the mix. I hope the weather holds off enough to give us another shot at this fishery.
Here's a pic of Captain Mike and myself with the days catch.
