just shorts yesterday in my usual area, and that is what every boater that slowed to chat said as well. went out this morning armed with my usual pink and white Gulp! and bucks w teaser and nada for two hours of incoming and south wind. Drift sock hardly slowed me down. As the whitecaps and waves increased in the rising breeze, the current slackened and a 16" weak became dinner. wind eased the return paddle up the creek.
Question: Both at the boat ramp and in the open bay, larger fish (7"?) but not bunker! jumped a foot out of the water but no predator seen after them and no big swirl. Juvenile kingfish a guess due to the tubular shape. Are snappers in early ? Would the needlefish I believe I saw a couple of days ago cause this ? I love to liveline snappers in the backbay but usually the calendar is in the 20s of July for me.
