Bottom line on Mt. Sinai is that the action is spotty, great one day, bupkis the next, AND the afternoon bite has been best, but quite short 15:45 to 16:30 TOPS, but you have to be there at 15:45. Well at least you folks coming from the west would be going opposite the bulk of the traffic.

It's also best on the high tide with no wind. It also has some to do with which docks are left in.

Usually true, but this year the big factor is IF the afternoon bite happens. My friends have given up on tide, and just go when the Muse is upon them, which usually means nicer weather with less wind. They've bailed one day and go back the next, same Bat Time, same Bat Station and got totally skunked. They have yet to put together 2 consecutive productive days.

Granted they're only coming from Smithtown...
 
Have they tried the mornings? In the past mornings bites have been very productive. They usually start just before sunrise and can last for a few hrs.
